Athens Gourmet Food Tour

Your tour leader will wait for you in the heart of Athens, in Monastiraki Square. The first stop will be in a Greek modern bakery to try different kinds of the traditional savory, phyllo-dough pies. At this point, you are going to leave behind you the touristic area and uncover the real heart of  Athens, and to do that there is no better place than the central meat and fish market of Varvakios  Agora. Taking one of the many exits will lead you straight to one of the best coffee shops, where you will try the traditional greek coffee. 

Afterward, your food tour-loving leader will introduce you to a kind of donut unlike the ones you’ve ever eaten before, the Greek Loukoumades are covered with syrup and sprinkled with cinnamon. Continue onto your next stop where you will sample Greek yogurt with honey, aged vinegar’s nectar, organic olive oil, and local wine. Then it will be time to taste regional cheeses and cold cuts in a unique deli shop. We saved the best for last, a  visit to one of the most popular Souvlaki places in town to try the number one greek street food,  the greek souvlaki – gyros!
